Kickboxing originated in the 1960’s from Japan then from America in the 1970’s. It originates from a fusion of arts developed from Boxing, Karate and Mauy Thai. We practice freestyle Kickboxing incorporating aspects of, K1, Mauy Thai and Krav Maga. It is a fast growing popular sport and classes are for all levels of fitness and for any age from 5 year. There are 2 fully qualified instructors in each class to insure that you receive expert tuition.
The classes involve a 10 minute warm up and stretch, followed by a combination of punching and kicking drills to pads, where the emphasis is on technique and attention to cardio and strength training. With the aim of using the skills learned and putting them into practice they are incorporated into sparring in a controlled and disciplined manor.
At times, part of the class will be working on grading techniques, where you can practice the syllabus towards your belt or simply come and train and keep fit. This style of kickboxing is a 9 Belt Grade system, which involves light continuous sparring. Full protective equipment is worn at all times when sparring.
Classes are relaxed and friendly, so just come along and give it a try.

Boxing
Need a workout that helps build a healthy heart, relieves stress, burns fat and builds muscle? The boxer needs it all – power, speed, endurance, reaction, flexibility, and balance. This workout routine includes stretching, shadow boxing, heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope, and various core exercises. Boxing is a whole body conditioning workout. Legs, hips, back, shoulders, arms, and midsection are all worked hard as they’re trained to work together. Aerobic fitness and muscular strength are built and power, balance, speed and stamina are developed with time and patience.
Boxing provides many benefits and challenges. Boxing has become a very popular pastime and serious sport for many, and not surprisingly provides the best workout and challenges to many of our senses and capacities. Becoming adept at boxing will enhance confidence, self-esteem, and all levels of fitness. Not to mention providing focus and an outlet for pent up aggression. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
What can I expect at a class?
A typical class will start with a 20-minute warm-up, followed by boxing, strength and fitness exercises and finishing with a 10-minute warm-down and stretch. Classes will teach you how to punch properly — it’s about technique not strength. When you’re not throwing a punch, you’re ducking and weaving — or doing squats and abdominal work.
